Grazing ae_-_grazing.jpg

Grazing is used to emphasize or enhance a textured surface by lighting placement close to the base of the wall or object and aiming light beam parallel to the surface.

This is best used on tree trunk or climbing vine. Grazing will emphasize detail and surface relief. Shadows are exaggerated depending upon the angle of the light to the wall. It can draw the eye to the wall, creating contrast and accentuating the texture, and also hide imperfections. Grazing can make spaces appear brighter and larger and even reveal the beauty of the surface in your yard.
